Health insurances
At VondelFysio, we believe it is important that you not only receive the right treatment, but also understand what costs you can expect. Physiotherapy reimbursement varies depending on your health insurer, your insurance policy and the agreements we have with your insurer.
On this page, you can find out which health insurers VondelFysio works with, how physiotherapy reimbursement works and what you should keep in mind.
Frequently Asked Questions About Physiotherapy and Insurance
Is physiotherapy covered by my health insurance?
For adults in the Netherlands, physiotherapy is generally covered by supplementary health insurance. The number of treatments reimbursed depends on your insurance package.
In certain situations, physiotherapy may be partially or fully covered by basic health insurance. Specific conditions apply, and you may have to pay a compulsory deductible (eigen risico).
If you do not have supplementary insurance, have used all your covered treatments or your treatment is not reimbursed, you can still receive physiotherapy at our practice. In that case, our standard treatment rates apply.
Which health insurers does VondelFysio have contracts with?
VondelFysio has agreements with several health insurers regarding physiotherapy reimbursement and direct billing.
Contracted health insurers in 2026
In 2026, we have contracts with:
-
DSW – including Stad Holland and InTwente
-
a.s.r. – including relevant insurance brands
-
ONVZ – including PNOzorg and VvAA
-
Achmea / Zilveren Kruis – including FBTO, Interpolis, De Friesland and ZieZo
If you are insured with one of these providers, we can generally bill your insurer directly for treatments covered by your policy.
Non-contracted health insurers in 2026
In 2026, we do not have contracts with:
-
VGZ – including IZA, IZZ, UMC and Univé
-
CZ – including OHRA, Nationale-Nederlanden and Just
-
Menzis – including Anderzorg
-
Zorg en Zekerheid
-
Salland / Eno
-
Eucare / Aevitae
You are always welcome at VondelFysio, even if we do not have a contract with your health insurer.
What if VondelFysio does not have a contract with my insurer?
If we do not have a contract with your health insurer, you will receive an invoice by email after your treatment. You can submit this invoice to your insurer yourself.
Depending on your policy, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. The amount varies between insurers and insurance packages.
We therefore recommend checking with your insurer in advance how much they reimburse for physiotherapy provided by a non-contracted healthcare provider.
Important changes in 2027
From 1 January 2027, there will be changes to our agreements with health insurers.
The most important change is that VondelFysio will no longer have a contract with ONVZ from 2027. This is related to changes in healthcare purchasing arrangements, with VGZ taking over contracting on behalf of ONVZ.
If you are insured with ONVZ, PNOzorg or VvAA, this may affect your physiotherapy reimbursement.
Of course, you are still welcome at VondelFysio in 2027. We recommend checking your policy conditions in advance.

Frequently asked questions about physiotherapy and reimbursement
Do I need a referral for physiotherapy?
No, in most cases you can book an appointment at VondelFysio without a referral from your GP. However, a referral may be required for certain treatments or reimbursements under basic health insurance.
Does physiotherapy count towards my deductible?
Physiotherapy reimbursed through supplementary insurance does not count towards the compulsory deductible (eigen risico). If treatment is covered by basic health insurance, the deductible may apply.
Can I book an appointment without supplementary insurance?
Yes, you can always book an appointment. If your treatment is not covered by insurance, you pay our standard treatment rate.
How can I check how many physiotherapy sessions I have left?
You can usually find this information in your health insurer’s app or online account. You can also contact your insurer directly.
